This is not because ideas are not bubbling to mind, but because it felt inauthentic.

After reviewing how I spent the first half of 2025, I was torn between the feeling of progress and the number of incomplete (albeit unstarted) projects on my to-do list.

Then words like ‘Consistency’, ‘Compounding’, ‘Persistence’, and terms like ‘Brute force’ came to mind. (In fact, I had a beautifully crafted email that had the core around an acronym of DCCC: Discipline, Clarity, Consistency, and Compounding)

The voice at the back of my head gave me a pep talk, telling me to put in just a bit more effort, and all these things would occur. I agreed with this logic and started an elaborate plan to add more structure to my life and DO more.

However, deep inside, I knew the importance of taking action, but I did not act on it simply because I had not taken the time to look in the mirror.

What does this mean to me?

I have to BECOME before I can BE.

My identity has to change to embrace the success (and failures) that will come with trying new things, talking to more people, and achieving the things that have been placed in my heart.

This is not a post intended to motivate you or offer improvement tips.

Instead, it is a pointer for you to:

1. Embrace yourself.

   You are doing great. Your life will always be a work in progress, and you are doing as well as you can at this moment.

2. Most of the battles are in the mind.

   Interestingly, these mental battles do not exist. We created them because of our previous experiences and excuses.

   It is you vs you. Learn to choose the side that you want to win.

   

3. Choose The Real Battles Wisely.

   There is always something to fight for. You have limited energy and resources to accomplish ALL things.

   Therefore, think like a General on the war front. Use your time, money, and connections wisely. It can save you from loss and pain.

4. Nothing Changes Except You Change.

   I have decided to try new things so I can get the results that I desire. If I continue with the status quo, I will get the same results.

With these realizations, I am learning to take action by transforming my identity into the man I aspire to be. I am on a journey of becoming him in my mind so I can bring him into this reality.

I wish you all the grace you require as you look into the mirror to become the person you desire.

Sometimes, I am alone; other times, I am with interesting virtual or real people.

One of the times I was blessed with the presence of a unique and beautiful human, we talked about how we know what we are meant to do, but we tend to fall into our default settings from the moment we wake up. After deep personal contemplation, I extracted the following points I believe should be shared with you.

1. All that we know was programmed into us.

   Many times, we forget that we learned all the good and bad habits that we display.

   However, since we have taken up this subconscious programming, it isn't easy to reprogram ourselves.

   It takes a lot of effort to change these programs. Still, I have found that having a clear vision, getting a mentor, immersing oneself in a new environment or community, or learning a new skill assists in creating new patterns.

2. You have to build Courage.

   Your fears will not go away.

   You must find a way to act regardless of the challenges by building your courage.

   How is that done?

   Take baby steps on the huge projects you have planned. Each morning, decide to take a small step towards that big goal.

   That small step can be making a phone call, writing a sentence for the book that you have always planned to write, or taking a course to learn a new skill.

3. Feed Your Faith and Starve Your Fear

   After you take those baby steps, you need to starve your fear.

   

   Celebrate those baby steps you have taken, hang around people with similar aspirations, learn from them, and build with a community.

   You can reprogram yourself as you share energy with people on the same journey.

4. Rinse and repeat

It is not a sprint but a marathon.

Do not get frustrated when you find yourself slipping.

It will get better as you go along.

Continue to work on the plan and never give up.

What is your Greatest Fear?

I had a conversation with someone a while back, and my response to this question was:

“Been forgotten after I am gone.”

I have had the time to think deeply, and I do not think I responded appropriately. I have found the real answer to be:

“Not living life to the best of my ability.”

The honest truth is that no matter how ‘great’ you are, time wipes away most of the humans that walked on this planet. Only a few people are remembered perpetually in the annals of history, and most did not plan to have that status.

What I have found is that 3 points can assist us all to live a great life

1. Live a life worth writing about.

Nothing is more exciting than someone who kept pushing the frontier.

I have found that most of the ‘successful’ people dared to try things no one had done before, were obsessed about their gifts or talents, and continued pushing the frontier to improve.

Case Study: Marie Curie was a brilliant female scientist born at a time in history when it was tough for a woman to get a proper scientific education. She was dogged in the fight to get her education, start her research, find lab space to continue the research, and even to show her worth to the scientific community. However, she was set on a path that ensured she did her best in her chosen career.

It is the same with Jeff Bezos, Leonardo Da Vinci, and Benjamin Franklin; if you want, you too.

2. Write a book (story) worth reading

You do not need to write a series like Harry Potter, but a great story can change the life of anyone. You do not need a professional writer to create a good story.

Case Study: J.R.R. Tolkien was a professor who decided to write fantasy stories based on his experiences in World Wars 1 and 2. These stories became The Lord of the Rings.

3. Build a community or a family

Give your wisdom, care, and love out without expecting anything in return.

Humans are innately inclined to build social connections and live with others. Just living among people provides us with satisfaction and warms our hearts.

Case study: Bill W. and Dr. Bob S. met again after struggling with addiction and were trying to live a good life. They connected with spiritual mentors and those who supported them to get back on their feet. After this experience, they started a group called Alcoholics Anonymous, which has assisted millions of people in overcoming their addiction to alcohol.

Closing

This does not mean you should be pressured to do something spectacular. Just be more intentional daily. It is the little things that eventually become huge.
